You can feel the friendly and relaxed atmosphere at Bendigo Retirement
Village (BRV), nowhere more so than in the busy Post Office and shop
where residents come to do their banking, make the most of full postal
services, and even purchase their papers, magazines, or a litre of milk.
“The thing that sets BRV apart is that all our residents have a strata title agreement and own their unit,” says Village Manager Neil Drummond. It gives the place a genuine village feel, but with all the personal security and peace of mind that comes with being part of a supported & established community.·
Residents at BRV live with as much independence and privacy as they choose, and can make use of a whole range of facilities and village activities. The village community centre includes a large dining room that can be used for special occasions, a billiards room, internet kiosk, bar and bowls area, together with TV with surround sound, DVD/CD and book library and much more – all of it air-conditioned.
Our wonderful commercial kitchen is open to everyone and our lovely cooks can make lunch and dinner for residents and family members daily, and for those with limited mobility we can even deliver to your door. Alternatively, you can come down to the centre and enjoy a freshly brewed coffee or delicious hot chocolate, home-made cakes, muffins and slices along with assorted snacks, sandwiches, yoghurts and fruit salads. In winter our wonderful log fire makes this a very cosy place to sit and chat, use our free Wi-Fi or just read a book.
Our recently renovated hairdressing salon, waiting room and consulting room are now being used by many visiting practitioners, including podiatrist, beauty therapist and hearing. This service is fantastic for those residents who are no longer able to drive to some of these appointments – it’s now just a simple walk to the Community Centre.
“Our philosophy is that we will try and do whatever residents can’t do for themselves,” Neil says.
“We have onsite maintenance staff and gardeners responsible for the village grounds, but we also encourage residents to enjoy gardening and grow their own vegetables in our community veggie patch.”
Residents also enjoy the personal security of a 24 hour emergency system, so help is never more than a few minutes away.
“We don’t provide clinical care services, but we can assist residents to arrange these services in their own home.”
The village courtesy bus is another boon for residents. It makes regular free trips to local shopping centres and the CBD, making it easy and convenient for shopping trips, medical appointments and social engagements. We are also surrounded by the regular public town bus routes.
The most commonly heard term around the Village is
“I wish I had moved here five years earlier than I did”
